SM2A Copper Grease

SM2A is a high-performance assembly and operational grease developed on the basis of selected mineral oil, thickened with an aluminium complex. Thanks to the content of copper micro-flakes and a package of carefully selected performance additives, the product forms a durable protective layer, ensuring effective lubrication and protection of threaded connections operating under highly demanding service conditions.

The primary function of SM2A grease is to reduce friction and protect metal surfaces against seizure, galling, and damage caused by high loads. The product effectively separates cooperating surfaces, thereby reducing frictional wear, fretting corrosion, and the tendency of threaded connections to seize.

In addition, the grease fills surface micro-irregularities, improving the fit of the components and supporting the tightness of the connection. Another important advantage of the product is that it facilitates later disassembly. Even after prolonged operation in an aggressive environment and at elevated temperatures, threaded connections remain easier to unscrew, reducing the risk of thread damage.

A distinctive feature of SM2A grease is its ability to operate under high-temperature conditions. After the oil fraction evaporates at temperatures above 200°C, the copper flakes contained in the product take over the function of solid lubrication, maintaining the protective layer and securing the connection even at temperatures of up to 800°C. The operating temperature range of the product is from -25°C to +800°C.

SM2A has been designed for industrial applications with high mechanical and thermal requirements, with particular focus on the drilling sector. The product is intended primarily for protecting threaded connections of pipes, drill rods, and other components exposed to heavy loads, vibrations, changing stress directions, and adverse environmental conditions.

The grease performs particularly well:

• during assembly and disassembly of threaded connections,
• in systems exposed to high loads and vibrations,
• on equipment fitted with automatic lubrication systems,
• in conditions involving contact with water, moisture, and drilling fluid.

The use of SM2A grease provides a number of technical and operational benefits. The most important include:
