P32

P32

Polymeric inhibitor and stabilizer for clay formations

DESCRIPTION

P32 is a high-viscosity polymer additive for drilling fluids, designed for use in clayey soils, clays, shales and other formations that tend to swell, wash out and adhere to drilling tools. The product helps maintain a stable borehole, limits the disintegration of clay cuttings in the drilling fluid and improves operating conditions for the drill string.

P32 can be used in geothermal drilling for vertical heat exchangers, water-well drilling, geological drilling, core drilling and HDD applications. The product performs well in both fresh water and water with elevated mineral content.

APPLICATION

P32 is used primarily where drilling operations involve problems with clay swelling, drilling-fluid clay contamination, cuttings breakdown, bit balling or increased drilling resistance. The additive limits hydration and swelling of clay formations, helps encapsulate cuttings and reduces their dispersion in the drilling-fluid circuit.
In addition, it improves drilling-fluid lubricity, reduces friction on the drill string and facilitates bit operation. It can be used as a stand-alone additive or as a component of bentonite- and polymer-based drilling fluids, especially in difficult ground conditions where borehole stabilization, reduction of clay contamination in the drilling fluid and improvement of drilling parameters are important.

DOSAGE AND PREPARATION

The typical dosage range for P32 is 0.5-3.0 kg/m³ of drilling fluid. At lower concentrations, approximately 10-200 g/m³, the product supports cuttings flocculation and limits solid-phase dispersion. At concentrations of 0.5-2.0 kg/m³, P32 produces an encapsulating effect and limits hydration and swelling of drilled clay formations.

The product should be added slowly through a hydraulic mixer or another effective mixing system. The recommended mixing time is approximately 15 minutes, until the product is completely dissolved and a homogeneous drilling fluid is obtained. The dosage should be adjusted to the type of ground, borehole diameter and length, water quality, pump parameters and the expected lubricity of the drilling fluid.
